1 Phase Thyristor Controller for Heater
A single-phase thyristor controller, also known as a Silicon Controlled Rectifier (SCR) power controller, is an industrial device that provides precise and efficient regulation of power to electric heaters. Instead of using mechanical relays, it uses solid-state switches (thyristors) to offer highly accurate and proportional control over the heating process.
How it works
Thyristor controllers use two main firing methods to regulate power delivery to a resistive heating load:
Phase angle control: This method varies the phase angle of the AC sine wave to deliver a proportional, infinitely variable amount of power to the heater. This gives the most precise control and can extend heater life.
Zero-voltage switching (or burst firing): This method delivers whole or partial AC cycles to the load, with the switching taking place when the AC waveform crosses zero volts. This minimizes electrical interference (EMI/RFI) and is a good option for resistive loads.
